Artifact Description:

In the Fall of 2020, I obtained this certificate after I completed the training and passed the test. Online training for TAP No. 31 is a one-hour professional development online training course for TAP No. 31 2017 Sexual Misconduct and Gender Discrimination Policy. The course introduced the University's policy prohibiting sex and/or gender-based discrimination and provided guidance on the University's response to reported violations of this Policy.

Reflection and Rationale:

The certificate demonstrated my contemporary professional ethics of the field as defined and developed by the Association for Educational Communications and Technology. Given that sexual misconduct and gender discrimination was an unresolved and troubling issue, the training is of great importance for me as a new educator in higher education. The online training enriched my knowledge of the rights and responsibilities of complainants and respondents. I developed a clear understanding of the universities policies on sexual misconduct and gender discrimination. I understood my responsibility of reporting any violation of these university policies and the related procedures. Moreover, it addressed a critical need to protect the rights of students that I encounter as an educator. I plan to apply the knowledge to maintaining personal integrity and promoting equity and social justice in my professional practice.
