Artifact 8. EDLT 401 course site on Blackboard.

Artifact Description:

In Fall 2020, I was the instructor for the EDLT 401 Instructional Technology IV course for undergraduate students who are preservice teachers in the School of Education at Duquesne University. EDLT 401 was a blended learning course that included both synchronous learnings through Zoom and asynchronous learning through Blackboard. I managed the Blackboard site for the course as the learning management system (LMS) including technological processes and resources such as announcement, syllabus, course content, grade book, and discussion board to support the learning community.

Reflection and Rationale:

This artifact was chosen in that it demonstrated my proficiency in the indicator. Managing the Blackboard course site for a blended learning course was a new learning journey for me. Although I had experience in managing technological processes and resources in the past, I did not have the opportunity to manage a Blackboard course site for blended learning. During the process of designing the Blackboard site, I used and organized a number of educational technological processes and resources in the Blackboard site where I provided a supportive learning community and diverse learning tasks. For example, Course content in the course site included both synchronous learning contents and asynchronous learning modules which were supportive and flexible. Students were able to complete the asynchronous learning module at their preferred time and to schedule a one-on-one meeting with me when they had any questions. In addition, I created the group discussion board where I post prompts for students to share their learning experiences and reflections on emerging instructional technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR). Students engaged in the group discussion and collaborated with group members in learning activities.
