Artifact Description:

In the Fall of  2020, in my capacity as the instructor for the EDLT 401 Instructional Technology IV course for undergraduate students who were preservice teachers at Duquesne University, I maintained the Blackboard as the Learning management system (LMS) for the course. The course objective is to prepare undergraduate students who were preservice teachers in the School of Education to implement emerging instructional technology in K-12 classrooms. I managed the technological processes and resources such as announcement, syllabus, course content, grade book, and discussion board to support the learning community. A discussion board was created to encourage peer discussions on a variety of topics related to educational technologies.

Reflection and Rationale:

Establishing mechanisms for maintaining the technology infrastructure was an area of growth for me. Although I did not have the opportunity to manage physical technology infrastructure, I managed the Blackboard course site which can be viewed as online technology infrastructure. I established mechanisms for maintaining the technology infrastructure to improve learning and performance. To maintain the course site, I designed the course site and maintained it regularly so that students can easily access and use it. In the future, I wish to have more opportunities to develop my skills in managing and maintaining the technology infrastructure.
