How to read Chinese characters

Read Chinese characters

In the Culture section, you have learned how the Chinese characters were composed. In this Reading section, you will learn to read 11 Pictograph Chinese characters. Pictographs or pictograms were the first Chinese characters that show objects in their most rudimentary form. These are characters that basically look like the object’s name, making them fun to learn and easier to remember.

There are some general rules for Chinese characters:

  • Chinese characters are made up of small pictures on an elementary level.

  • Chinese characters can be ‘broken down’ into separate parts.

  • The separate parts have their own meaning

Next, please complete the learning tasks one by one.
